Global Day of Protest against War with Iran

U.S. aggression against Iran threatens to begin yet another disastrous, bloody war. The people of the world must fight back and demand: No war on Iran!

On Saturday, January 25, actions across the world will oppose a new war in West Asia. Now is the time for all those opposed to war to speak up. Please join us at Court Square, downtown Harrisonburg, noon to 2PM.

Now is the time to say no to war with Iran and no to the long term drive for regime change. Ever since the overthrow of the US client regime of the Shah in 1979 by the Iranian revolution, the US has been determined to recover control of the Strait of Hormuz, the strategic choke point through which 30% of the world’s oil supplies move. The US does not need that oil for domestic consumption anymore but it craves “control of the spigot” (the Strait of Hormuz) for the flow of oil to the rest of the world.

We must demand a new foreign policy based on the existential demands of the climate emergency, on peaceful cooperation between peoples and the construction of a renewable and sustainable global economy to replace the Fossil Fuel Empire that ceaselessly generates endless wars and economic and ecological catastrophe.

We must build a new antiwar movement, rooted in an awareness of the deep structural linkage between fossil fuels, war and empire and the imperative need for humanity to move beyond both before it is too late.
