Solar Barn Raising Event

Gemeinschaft Home is installing solar panels! We need YOUR HELP!

We currently have 8 volunteers who have said they can make it on that date. We could use a few more, 2 or 3 would be great! Contact Jeff Heie ([email protected]) if you can volunteer that day!

On the ground volunteers: Digging a trench between the Bender building and the main building for the solar array conduit; lifting solar panels from the ground to scaffolding to the two roofs; completing the cutting down of a tree that shaded one of the solar roofs (what’s left of the tree is only about 10 feet tall).

On the roof volunteers: Receiving panels from the scaffolding; carrying panels (carefully!) to racking; setting and securing panels to the racking.

Equipment needed: Digging irons, trenching shovels, chainsaw with sharp chain and at least a 20″ bar. Work gloves and sun protection are also advisable.

We are also seeking a skilled photographer to come and take photos for an hour. The person would have to be comfortable up on the roofs. If any of you have any suggestions please let me know. We welcome a volunteer to perform this role, but would also be willing to pay $50 for someone with good credentials.
