Still Here: A Friendly City Benefit for Direct Resistance to MVP

For more than 110 days, tree sitters near Elliston, Montgomery County, Virginia, have been blocking tree felling by the Mountain Valley Pipeline – a 303-mile, 42″ fracked gas pipeline originating in Northern West Virginia and slated to plow through the Alleghenies, the New River Valley, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and down into North Carolina.

Perched fifty feet off of a hillside, and supported by a small crew, the two brave sitters have weathered wind, rain, snow, and ice, maintaining physical resistance to the dangerous and unnecessary $4.5B boondoggle that is ripping forests, waterways, and communities in Central Appalachia to shreds.

And though MVP and ACP (Dominion Energy’s 600-mile Atlantic Coast Pipeline, further behind in schedule) continue to lose both state and federal permits left and right, Governor of Virginia Ralph Northam, Attorney General Mark Herring, and DEQ Director David K. Paylor stand by and withdraw from citizens’ calls to STOP WORK NOW.

Direct action takes courage. It takes risking more than just your health. It takes guts and sacrifice. And it ain’t free, either.

Which is why us folks in Rockingham County need to do our part in showing these good people, who are acting on our behalf in protection of our land, air, and water resources – some LOVE. Where government regulators have failed, these folks have stepped up, and they need a hand.

We’ve got a great lineup and wonderful night ahead. Let’s let MVP know that We Are Not Going Anywhere!

Come one, come all, in support of environmental justice! Bring a friend or three, and bring cash money if you can!
